Search Rzeszów Vital Records

Enter in a surname below to search the approximately 14,000 vital records I have transcribed from various microfilms from The Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. Feel free to use either plain characters, actual Polish or English spellings of Polish names (e.g.: Laczak, Lączak or Lanczak). The searching algorithim uses an approximation method that will still show hits even if they are slightly off.

Things to Note

• Do not E-mail me with search requests. I don't have the films that made this set nor do I have the time/resources to get other films to do other searches. If it's not here -- I don't have it.
• These records are transcribed from the various parish registers listed below. These register contained many errors, some of which I was able to deduce and correct but many others I probably missed. Also, the handwriting tended to be pretty bad, so I have made some keying errors. Especially bad would be from 1814-1845. Whoever was doing it then definitely had penmanship problems.
• The later the record, the more likely additional information will be provided. Records prior to 1830 rarely carried more than the person in question plus parents. The use of maiden names for parents and the listing of grandparents didn't start until the 1830s. Records starting in the 1890s for marriages and deaths started to use birthdates rather than ages.
• Age at death is notoriously unreliable for adults, unless Poles had the uncanny ability to die when their age was divisible by 10.
• Some names in parent fields are in parentheses, which indicate a widow/widower rather than the parents. This was common for remarriages and adult deaths. Additionally, many remarriage and death records prior to 1830 will use the married name rather than the maiden name for females.
• If you have transcribed records, I am more than happy to include these in my databases for searching. This is a non-profit effort -- I will not pay for record inclusion.
